‘First Dash Seeking Change

Share

Coupers First Dash, winner of the California Matron at nearly 8-1 odds this year, will try to end a four-race losing skid tonight in the $15,000 Dashing Folly Handicap at 350 yards.

Named for the 1996 Champion of Champions winner, the Dashing Folly attracted eight fillies and mares and is the ninth of 10 races on the program.

Owned by E G High Desert Farms and trained by Concepcion Balderrama, Coupers First Dash won the Matron by nearly two lengths on June 22 but has not finished better than fifth in her last four starts. She’ll try a jockey change to Dennis Means in hopes of turning things around.
