Passenger-Set Fire Led to Crash, State Says
From Times Wire Reports
A China Northern Airlines crash in May that killed 112 people was an act of sabotage caused by a passenger who set a fire on board, the official New China News Agency said today.
“An investigation ... determined that the May 7 air disaster was an act of sabotage created when passenger Zhang Pilin set a fire,” the agency said, with no further details.
Just before the plane plunged into the sea near Dalian, the pilot of the McDonnell-Douglas MD-82 told ground controllers about a fire in the cabin.
