Severed Gas Line Forces Evacuation of 50 People
A road construction crew severed a gas line Wednesday afternoon, forcing the evacuation of more than 50 people in the neighborhood, fire officials said.
The line in the 200 block of East Adams Avenue was ruptured about 2 p.m. while the road was being resurfaced.
The displaced residents were taken to the Boys & Girls Club on Delaware Street while crews repaired the damage, fire authorities said.
No injuries were reported.
