Jones Has Shot to Break Record for Victories

Share

If all goes very well for Paul Jones tonight, the trainer will break his record -- set last year -- of 163 winners.

Jones, the leader in the standings with 160 winners, will send out Kid Charismatic in the third, Manhood in the fifth, Heartless Chick in the seventh and Brushed Nickel and Hesmyking in the eighth.

Owned by Ed Allred, Heartless Chick, a 4-year-old Chicks Beduino mare, will be facing softer competition tonight as she looks for her third win in her 21st start.

Two races ago, she chased Sammies White Chick, the recent winner of the Dashing Folly Handicap, and she also has faced the likes of Dinastia Toll, a finalist in the Champion of Champions, and multiple allowance winner Pure Flattery.

Earlier in the program, Kid Charismatic will try for his second win in 20 starts. The 3-year-old gelding has been second nine times.

The picks: 1. Ageless. 2. Eldorado Belle. 3. Kid Charismatic. 4. A Blurr. 5. Pride Of Katella. 6. One Off. 7. Streakin Six Love. 8. Brushed Nickel.

Four! Use Ageless and Wendi Wednesday in the first, Kari Kate, Eldorado Belle and Lucky Melody in the second, Kid Charismatic and Dash With Illusions in the third and A Blurr and A Blurr Of Dust in the fourth.

Shots in the dark: Leading rider Ramon Sanchez takes over on Hi Noble in the fifth. Corfue is a first-timer from a winning barn (Jose Antonio Flores) in the eighth.
