State to Issue Findings in Huge Klamath Fish Kill
The state Department of Fish and Game is expected to release its findings next week on a huge Klamath River fish kill.
The report, to be released Monday, is expected to explain what caused the deaths of at least 33,000 Chinook and coho salmon, steelhead and sturgeon in September.
Authorities speculated that a U.S. Bureau of Reclamation reduction in water flowing into the river triggered the disaster by squeezing too many fish into too little water. The close quarters apparently may have allowed two diseases to spread quickly.
