ABC pulls plug on ‘MDs’ series

Poor ratings have led to the cancellation of “MDs,” ABC’s new drama about doctors at a San Francisco hospital.

Executives for the network said they supported the series, but it never found a significant audience.

Last Wednesday’s installment marked the final broadcast. “MDs’ ” 10 p.m. slot will be filled next week with a repeat showing of the reality special “Extreme Makeover” and the next few weeks with sporting events. Then “Celebrity Mole Hawaii,” a new version of the unscripted series “The Mole,” will premiere in the “MDs” time period on Jan. 8.

The cancellation marks the third new ABC drama to be dropped this season, following “Push, Nevada” and “That Was Then.”
