From Times Wire Reports

Mourners packed a historic downtown church for the funeral of a priest who was shot in the chest before his rectory office was set on fire. Speakers were set up outside for the overflow crowd that came to pay their respects to Father William Gulas, who had been pastor for nine years at St. Stanislaus Church.

A Franciscan brother in training, Daniel Montgomery, 37, has been charged with killing Gulas and setting the fire. Montgomery, who had recently been notified of his dismissal from the order, has pleaded not guilty to murder and arson charges.
