Woman Charged With Abandoning Baby
Felony charges were filed Thursday against a West Hills woman accused of abandoning her newborn baby in a hospital parking lot, officials said.
Rosemary Gutierrez, 27, was arraigned in Van Nuys Superior Court on charges of child abuse and child endangerment, said Sandi Gibbons, the district attorney’s spokeswoman.
Gutierrez was being held at Twin Towers Jail in lieu of $70,000 bail.
The baby boy was found Monday night in the parking lot of West Hills Hospital and Medical Center, where he remains in good condition. He is in custody of the county’s Department of Children and Family Services.
