* James J. Walsh has been named president and chief executive of SCS Engineers, a Long Beach company specializing in solid waste management and environmental services. Walsh, a 28-year company veteran, succeeds Robert P. Stearns, SCS’ co-founder and president and CEO for the last 25 years. Stearns will continue as chairman.

Gregg Mollins has been promoted to president and chief operating officer of Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co., a Los Angeles-based metals service center company.

Also promoted were Karla McDowell, executive vice president and chief financial officer; James MacBeth, senior vice president, carbon steel operations; and William Sales Jr., senior vice president, non-ferrous operations.

Vijay Yajnik has been named president and chief operating officer of Torrance-based Agribuys, a supply-chain integrator for the food industry. He is a former executive with Worldwide Retail Exchange.

David J. Brotman, a former executive with RTKL Associates Inc., has formed a new real estate services firm, Sunset Consultants, based in Manhattan Beach.

Henry R. Andersen has been appointed chief marketing officer at Unitek Miyachi International, a Monrovia manufacturer of laser welding and package sealing equipment. He is a former executive at Stanley Electric Co. in Irvine.

James Dillahunty, vice president of privately held telecom company Henkels & McCoy Inc. and division manager for its Western Pacific region, has been promoted to Western region vice president.

Ruby’s Diner, a Newport Beach-based restaurant operator, has named Loret Carbone vice president of human resources and chief people officer. The company also named Tammy Collas director of training.

Darcie Denkert has been named president of the newly formed MGM Entertainment Business Group, a division of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc.

MGM also promoted Jonathan Bader to executive vice president, business affairs, at its MGM Pictures unit.

Costa Mesa-based ARV Assisted Living Inc. has promoted Doug Armstrong to senior vice president and general counsel. The company also promoted Anita Ryan to senior vice president, controller and chief accounting officer.

Andrew Ratner has been promoted to executive managing director and area leader for the California and Portland-Seattle regions of Los Angeles-based commercial real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield.

Mike Gaudiuso has been named executive director of financial reporting; Jennifer Crowley has been appointed manager of financial reporting; and Lori Wewers has been named manager of VHS inventory and post-production.
