Tape-Delayed Olympics Nothing to Cheer About

Share

When was the last time you saw the words “previously recorded live event” plastered on a TV screen more than on NBC’s coverage of the Olympics? Oh, wait, I know the answer--the last time NBC covered the Olympics. What is so difficult about putting the Olympics on live? Are “Days of Our Lives” or “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” more important than events that take place once every two years?

I love watching the Games. I love cheering for our athletes. And NBC takes that away by showing the events tape-delayed. Maybe we should all delay watching its No. 1 shows. Maybe we should delay spending money with its advertisers. Maybe we should just realize that making money is still more important to NBC than lifting up the nation by allowing people to cheer the American flag our athletes wear to victory.
