Stronger Protection Sought for Pine Trees

Rare Monterey pines have been targeted for stronger protection by the Monterey County Planning Commission after environmentalists argued that some trees were being illegally cut down.
The commissioners asked county planners Wednesday to draft a temporary law until existing codes could be updated.
