Korean Students Need Reality Lesson

Share

Re “Students Aim to Give Bush a Lesson in Diplomacy,” Feb. 20: Perhaps the Korean students should take a lesson in history before deciding to give lessons in diplomacy. In particular, they should look at what the North Koreans did to their people in the ‘50s and how many Americans gave their lives so they could have a free, democratic South Korea and choose to go on hunger strikes rather than be starved by force by a dictatorial government. Maybe the U.S. should pull out all forces from South Korea and leave the students at the mercy of the militarily fortified North. This may give the students a badly needed lesson in reality.

Re “U.S. Won’t Invade N. Korea, Bush Assures Worried South,” Feb. 20: President Bush said, “Korean children should never starve while a massive army is fed.” In our country we have people starving and living on the streets, but our Army is fed. What is it they say--the pot calling the kettle black?
