Political Fallout Over Western Plateau Deal

Share

I applaud the actions of the [Thousand Oaks] City Council majority--[Andy] Fox, [Dan] Del Campo and [Dennis] Gillette--for having the courage to take the appropriate and necessary steps of removing former planning commissioners [Nora] Aidukas and [Michael] Farris, who violated the commission’s rules of decorum and failed to maintain the integrity, honesty and independence demanded of their appointed office.

They simply steamrollered their will against the will of the City Council and the clearly significant majority of citizens who attended the meeting and wanted the Western Plateau plan hearing to go forward and [be] approved.

We elected these three council members because we believed they were right for the job. They have proven that we were right and that they will vote their consciences without regard for whether their decisions will affect their electability in the next election. I look forward to another four years of these excellent incumbents.

Please join me in saluting Fox, Del Campo and Gillette.

Please remember to vote on March 5 and elect Randy Hoffman--a clear choice for independence, strong leadership and action in government.

The last time I looked, we hold trials before convicting someone--everyone--even war criminals.

The Thousand Oaks City Council in an emergency session fired two planning commissioners and censured Linda Parks simply because they asked for more information about the Western Plateau deal.

Later, it will decide whether these folks broke the law.

Excuse me? Parks is right. This deal should go before the people. The overwhelmingly popular Parks Initiative was made law to guarantee that exactly this sort of land deal could not take place without voter approval.

Think you can trust developer-backed [Randy] Hoffman to protect SOAR?

Think again and vote for Parks for county supervisor. She’s proven time and again that she follows the law, not the money.
