Stanford Defeats UCLA

Stanford made 16 of 27 three-point shots in a 98-80 victory against UCLA on Sunday before 2,701 at Pauley Pavilion.

The victory enabled the No. 2 Cardinal (28-1)--a winner of 20 in a row--to complete Pacific 10 Conference play with an 18-0 record.

Lindsey Yamasaki made seven of 10 three-point shots and scored 33 points to lead Stanford.

Gennifer Arranaga had a career-high 21 points for UCLA (8-19, 4-14--a loser of 25 of its last 28 games against Stanford.

UCLA will play California in the first round of the Pac-10 tournament Friday in Eugene, Ore. The winner will meet Stanford, which has a first-round bye.

USC 69, California 58--The Trojans rallied from a 26-22 halftime deficit by taking the ball inside and held off the Bears before 1,482 at the Sports Arena.

Eight of the Trojans’ first nine baskets in the second half were layups. Ebony Hoffman led the Trojans with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Aisha Hollans had 19 points and 11 rebounds.

The win put USC (15-12, 11-7) into a fourth-place tie with Oregon State, and the two will meet Saturday in the quarterfinals of the Pac-10 tournament. The Trojans swept the season series from the Beavers.Leigh Gregory led California (7-20, 2-16) with 17 points.
