From Times Staff Reports

For the third time this week, a bomb scare Wednesday delayed flights and caused the evacuation of a portion of Los Angeles International Airport.

This time, an unattended briefcase near the end of Terminal 2 caused authorities to evacuate the upper floor from 2:20 to 3:41 p.m. while a bomb squad investigated. Seven outbound flights were delayed, airport spokeswoman Nancy Castles said.
