Pedestrian Safety Tips

Share

* Always cross at intersections, preferably at marked crosswalks. Do not jaywalk or cross a street from between parked vehicles.

* When crossing, stop at the edge of the street and look left, right and left again before proceeding.

* Wait until the “WALK” sign flashes, and make sure traffic is clear before crossing. Do not begin crossing when a “DON’T WALK” or “WAIT” signal is flashing.

* Stay a safe distance from vehicles, especially large ones, such as trucks and buses. Do not assume the driver can see you. All drivers have “blind spots” where visibility is limited or obstructed.

* Approach alleys and roadways with caution and only cross when safe.
