Multiple Sclerosis Group Offers Workshop

The local chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will hold a workshop titled “M.S. . . . Moving Forward” on Saturday at the Grant R. Brimhall Library, 1401 E. Janss Road.

The conference, to be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., is intended for individuals newly diagnosed with the disease or for anyone who would like to learn more about it.

A panel of speakers will provide research updates, the latest techniques to better manage M.S. and other topics. The speakers include neurologist David Brandes, who will discuss symptoms; therapist Marsha Youman, who will discuss coping skills; and Jo Black, director of Independent Living Resource Center, who will discuss managing the effects of M.S. at work.

Information on local M.S. resources, including support and advocacy groups, will be provided.

The workshop is free, and a light lunch will be served.
