Panel Calls for Review of Anti-Drug Policing
The Los Angeles Police Commission on Tuesday called for a review of gang- and narcotics-related law enforcement efforts citywide after a Boyle Heights community group made a plea for more drug stings in their neighborhood.
Members of the Hollenbeck area station’s community police advisory board, a citizens’ group, told the commission that they were concerned about drug sales from homes in the area.
Deputy Chief Julius I. Davis said part of the problem may be that anti-terrorism efforts after Sept. 11 have required some police forces to be shifted from regular duties.
