Global Crossing Names New Asia Group CEO

Global Crossing Ltd., operator of a global telephone and data network, named John Scanlon chief executive of Asia Global Crossing, replacing John Legere.

Legere, who was CEO of both Asia Global Crossing and Global Crossing, will remain in the position at Global Crossing and focus only on that company, the company said. Scanlon was previously vice chairman of Asia Global Crossing.

William Barney, president of business services at Asia Global Crossing, was named that company’s president and chief operating officer.

Company executives couldn’t be reached for comment.

Global Crossing’s shares fell 3 cents to 61 cents on the NYSE, before the news was announced.
