Cele Goldsmith Lalli, 68; Retired Editor in Chief of Modern Bride Magazine

Cele Goldsmith Lalli, 68, a retired editor in chief of Modern Bride magazine, died in Connecticut on Monday after her car went off a road and struck a tree.

Lalli was driving alone when her station wagon careened off the road a few miles from her home on Monday, police said. She died at Danbury Hospital, said Jody Smith-Rieve, a nursing supervisor.

Lalli retired three years ago from Modern Bride after being its editor in chief for more than a decade. She had worked for the magazine for more than 30 years.

She was the coauthor of two books offering grooms and brides solutions for diplomatically choosing attendants, dealing with divorced parents and containing costs, among other dilemmas.

Lalli also shared her wedding expertise directly with future brides, conducting workshops for prospective brides and their mothers.

A native of Scranton, Pa., Valli graduated from Vassar College in 1955.
