Another Fact of Life
While I agree in spirit with Jeff Cooper (Calendar Letters, Dec. 30) complaining about having to sit through commercial messages at the movies, he’s being a bit disingenuous.
Has he been to a major sports venue such as Staples Center lately? Fans are bombarded with ads over the PA system, on the giant video screens, and even (at Kings games) on the boards and the ice. Plus, tickets and concessions cost much more than a night at the movies.
The reality is that constant exposure to advertising is a fact of modern life. At least the ads stop once the movie starts--unless you count product placements.
