Blues Extend Streak on Tkachuk’s Goals

Keith Tkachuk scored twice, including one on a power play 3:29 into overtime, and the Blues defeated the Boston Bruins, 2-1, Saturday at St. Louis for their eighth consecutive victory.

It was his third game-winning goal in the last three games.

St. Louis’ Brent Johnson stopped 28 shots.

Martin Lapointe, playing in his 600th career game, scored for Boston.

Philadelphia 3, Toronto 0--Donald Brashear scored a goal at Toronto and Roman Cechmanek made 31 saves for his second shutout this season.

The Flyers have won eight in a row and 14 of their last 16.

Justin Williams and Todd Fedoruk also scored.

Atlanta 6, Florida 1--Pascal Rheaume scored four goals, including three on the power play, and had an assist at Sunrise, Fla.

Ilya Kovalchuk had a power-play goal and four assists, giving him an NHL rookie-high 43 points.

Milan Hnilicka made 44 saves to help the Thrashers win for the fourth time in six games.

Pierre Dagenais scored for Florida, which has lost five of its last six.

Carolina 3, New Jersey 3--Defenseman Aaron Ward scored with 2:53 left to cap a two-goal third-period rally, giving Carolina a tie at East Rutherford, N.J.

Rookie Erik Cole and Bret Hedican also scored for the Hurricanes.

Tom Barrasso had 23 saves for Carolina.

Jason Arnott, Petr Sykora and John Madden scored for the Devils.

Montreal 5, Tampa Bay 1--Andreas Dackell, Jan Bulis and Gino Odjick had first-period goals at Tampa, Fla.

Lightning all-star goalie Nikolai Khabibulin was pulled after giving up three goals on seven shots in the opening period. He was replaced by Kevin Weekes.

Vancouver 5, Washington 1--Ed Jovanovski and Artem Chubarov scored in a 23-second span late in the second period at Washington.

Andrew Cassels scored twice and Brendan Morrison had one goal. Markus Naslund had three assists.

Ottawa 4, Minnesota 1--Shawn McEachern scored for the first time in 22 games at Ottawa and the Senators ended a two-game losing streak.

Chris Herperger, Martin Havlat and Marian Hossa scored for the Senators and Patrick Lalime made 22 saves.

Nashville 2, Columbus 1--Nashville’s Karlis Skrastins got the game-winner when he scored his first goal at home this season.

The Predators are 12-1-5 in their last 18 games.
