Kentucky Disposes of Florida

Tayshaun Prince had 19 points and 10 rebounds, helping No. 10-ranked Kentucky send No. 5 Florida to its third consecutive loss, 70-68, Tuesday night at Gainesville, Fla.

Prince broke a 63-63 tie with a free throw, and his assist led to Keith Bogans’ three-point basket for a four-point lead with 1:28 to go. Bogans had 14 of his 20 points in the second half.

On the Gators’ ensuing possession, Orien Greene made a three-pointer to pull Florida within 67-66. But Prince responded with a jumper from the left baseline that put the Wildcats (14-5, 4-3 Southeastern Conference) ahead, 69-66.

Brett Nelson led Florida (15-4, 4-3) with 15 points.

No. 4 Cincinnati 75, East Carolina 48--Steve Logan and Field Williams each scored 18 points for the Bearcats (20-1, 8-0 Conference USA) at Cincinnati.

The Bearcats won their 20th in a row, the nation’s longest winning streak.

Gabriel Mikulas led East Carolina (7-13, 1-7) with 12 points.

No. 25 Ohio State 78, No. 12 Illinois 67--Brent Darby scored 22 points--making 16 of 18 free throws--to lead the Buckeyes (16-3, 7-1 Big Ten) at Columbus, Ohio.

Boston College 70, No. 15 Miami 65--Troy Bell scored 25 points, including a go-ahead three-pointer with 1:47 left, to lift the Eagles (15-5, 4-3 Big East) at Miami.

James Jones had 19 points and 12 rebounds for Miami (18-3, 5-3).

WOMEN’S TOP 25

No. 1 Connecticut 59, No. 23 Virginia Tech 50--Asjha Jones scored 19 points and the Huskies (23-0, 9-0 Big East) withstood a scare at Blacksburg, Va.

Ieva Kublina led the Hokies (15-5, 6-3) with 17 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots.

No. 4 Oklahoma 66, Oklahoma State 58--Stacey Dales scored 29 points, her career high, lifting the Sooners (17-2, 7-1 Big 12) at Stillwater, Okla.

Center Trisha Skibbe led the Cowgirls (11-10, 3-5) with 20 points.

No. 17 Colorado 80, Kansas 41--Britt Hartshorn and Tera Bjorklund combined for 26 points at Boulder, Colo., and the Buffaloes (16-6, 6-3 Big 12) won for the sixth consecutive time.

The Jayhawks (5-17, 0-9) lost a school-record ninth in a row.
