Re “Tweens: From Dolls to Thongs” (June 27), on marketers selling sex appeal to girls 7 to 14 years old: It takes a village to turn a little girl into a sex object.

Manufacturers, retailers and the media value the almighty dollar above cultural values, which is unconscionable. But this is compounded by permissive parents who take the easy way out and make it doubly hard for responsible parents--who do ensure age-appropriate purchases and influences.
