Greene Is Defeated in 100 Again

Dwain Chambers beat world record-holder Maurice Greene for the second time in 48 hours, winning the 100 meters Sunday at the IAAF Norwich Union Grand Prix Classic.

Chambers followed his victory over Greene at the Bislett Games in Oslo on Friday by leading a British sweep of the top three spots.

Chambers stormed out of the blocks to lead the Olympic and world champion at 50 meters and finished with a winning time of 9.95 seconds. Greene, who seemed to slow down after Chambers went past him, finished sixth in 10.24.

Greene lost consecutive races for the first time since 1998.

Chambers ran under 10 seconds for the first time this season. Because of a tailwind, his time will not replace his official personal best of 9.97.

Mark Lewis-Francis finished second in 9.97. Jason Gardener was third in 10.11.

Chambers returned to the track 45 minutes after winning the 100 but finished second behind four-time Olympic silver medallist Frankie Fredericks of Namibia in the 200. Fredericks won in 20.29 and Chambers finished in 20.38.
