Firm Plans 2 Blood Drives for Officer
Blood drives will be held during the next two weeks to benefit a Los Angeles police officer critically injured last weekend in a multiple car crash in Santa Clarita, officials said Wednesday.
The drives will be organized by the Los Angeles law firm of Manning & Marder, Kass, Ellrod, Ramirez LLP, where Officer Bruce Hunt’s wife, Kathy, is a partner, officials said.
Hunt, a 14-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department, was in critical but stable condition at County-USC Medical Center on Wednesday, said Jon Weiner, a hospital spokesman.
Hunt was pinned between two cars as he helped victims of an accident on the Antelope Valley Freeway late Saturday. He suffered a broken pelvis, fractures in his collarbone and legs, collapsed lungs and internal bleeding, police said.
“We wanted to do this to support both Kathy and Bruce, and to help replenish the blood supply in L.A. County,” said Frances Lee, a spokeswoman for the law firm.
The blood drives will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday and on July 18 at the law offices on the 23rd floor at 660 S. Figueroa St., Lee said. The blood will be donated to the Los Angeles-based Ralph M. Parsons Blood Donor Center.
