The City Council has approved a $183-million budget for the new fiscal year.
The Oxnard spending plan would leave a $500,000 surplus if expenses don’t exceed budgeted amounts, said City Manager Ed Sotelo. The fiscal year began July 1.
The budget, approved Tuesday, includes a $1.7-million allowance for a sweeping living-wage policy to be phased in within four years.
The council has postponed until July 9 a discussion on the details of the policy.
