The largest exhibition of works by the artist will go on view Tuesday when “Gustave Le Gray, Photographer” opens at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Brentwood. The survey will include the seascapes and cloud studies that made him famous, as well as atmospheric forest scenes, portraits of Napoleon III and his wife, and Paris landscapes. Helen Hunt and Tim Robbins will star in a staged reading of “The Guys,” journalist Anne Nelson’s emotionally charged drama about firefighters working at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, opening Wednesday at Actors’ Gang in Hollywood. The original production, performed by a rotating cast of celeb actors, is still playing a few blocks north of ground zero at the off-Broadway Flea Theatre. Music

The opening concert in the 81st summer subscription season at the Hollywood Bowl takes place Tuesday, when Estonian conductor Paavo Jarvi leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a Brahms concert focusing on the First Piano Concerto--with soloist Lars Vogt, right--and the Fourth Symphony. The conductor returns Thursday, when his soloist is Georgian violinist Elisabeth Batiashvili--playing the Beethoven Concerto--and the program also includes Arvo Part’s “Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten” and Sibelius’ Symphony No. 5.

Movies

Matthew McConaughey, Christian Bale and Izabella Scorupco star in “Reign of Fire,” in which humans become an endangered species after fire-breathing dragons awaken, multiply and scorch Earth. Directed by Rob Bowman, the fantasy-adventure opens Friday.

Dance

Danza Floricanto/USA normally explores Mexican traditions, and Kayamanan Ng Lahi the culture of the Philippines. But in “From Acapulco to Manila: An Untold Pacific Rim Story,” these two distinguished local ensembles join forces to examine their mutual inheritance from the Spanish conquest. Choreographed by Gema Sandoval and Joel Jacinto, this full-evening collaboration in two acts premieres Saturday and next Sunday at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre in Hollywood.

Pop Music

Rocking into its eighth year, the Vans Warped Tour nurtures its punk roots with a bill that includes such Warped staples as Bad Religion, MxPx, NOFX, Lagwagon and Reel Big Fish, among others. The caravan comes to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Wednesday and Thursday and Seaside Park in Ventura on Friday.

Quirky writer-director Wes Anderson followed up his 1998 cult fave “Rushmore” with the offbeat “The Royal Tenenbaums,” for which he and co-writer Owen Wilson received an original screenplay Oscar nomination. Gene Hackman plays the eccentric patriarch of a dysfunctional family. Anjelica Huston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Danny Glover, Bill Murray, Luke Wilson and Owen Wilson also star. The film arrives Tuesday on VHS and DVD.
