Duke, Kansas Are on Bruins’ Schedule

UCLA announced its men’s basketball schedule for the coming season, with Duke, Kansas, Michigan and St. John’s highlighting the nonconference opponents.

The Bruins will face Duke at the Wooden Tradition in Indianapolis (Nov. 30), play at Kansas (Dec. 21) and play host to Michigan (Dec. 28) and St. John’s (Jan. 11) in Pauley Pavilion. They also travel to Georgetown (Feb. 8).

The Bruins’ schedule will feature eight teams that were in last season’s NCAA tournament (Duke, Kansas, USC, St. John’s, Arizona, Stanford, California and Oregon) and one NIT participant (Arizona State).

The Wooden Tradition in Indianapolis (Conseco Fieldhouse) is a doubleheader, featuring UCLA vs. Duke and Purdue vs. Louisville. The Bruins open their nonconference home season in Pauley Pavilion on Nov. 26 vs. San Diego, coached by former Bruin player and assistant coach Brad Holland.

UCLA opens 2003 Pacific-10 Conference play on Jan. 2 at Washington, coached by former Bruin assistant Lorenzo Romar, and on Jan. 4 at Washington State. The Bruins open home conference play on Jan. 9 vs. USC.
