City OKs Strict Limits for Cyber Cafe Hours
An ordinance approved unanimously by the Garden Grove City Council this week strictly limits the hours cyber cafes can be open.
The ordinance requires the city’s 21 cyber cafes to close at 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and at midnight Friday and Saturday. Minors are not allowed after 8 p.m.
The council approved the ordinance in response to the fatal shooting last month of a 14-year-old boy after he left a cyber cafe.
The ordinance takes effect in 30 days. Until now, the cyber cafes could remain open until 2 a.m. any day of the week.
