Airline Investigates Remark About Sobriety
America West took it seriously when a San Francisco International Airport passenger made an offhand remark about a flight crew’s sobriety. The passenger was escorted off the plane, questioned and sent to another airline after asking a flight attendant, “Have you checked your crew for sobriety?”
“The woman kept saying: ‘I was just kidding; can’t you guys take a joke?’ ” said Ron Wilson, an airport spokesman.
America West was embarrassed this month by a report that two pilots allegedly tried to fly a jet while drunk in Florida.
