Mixed Reaction to U.N. Compromise on Court

European countries gave a lukewarm reception to a United Nations deal that exempts U.S. peacekeepers from prosecution by a new global tribunal for one year.
The compromise, which came after weeks of negotiations, resolves a dispute pitting the U.S. against European Union nations and many other countries that support the International Criminal Court.
The EU, including Britain and France, voiced support for the deal, but other member nations such as Belgium and Germany were less enthusiastic.
