Man Who Burned Woman, 84, Is Executed

An Oklahoma man who abducted, beat and then burned to death an 84-year-old woman in 1985 was executed by lethal injection.
Randall Eugene Cannon, 42, was pronounced dead at 6:05 p.m., three minutes after receiving a lethal cocktail of chemicals at a state prison, Oklahoma Department of Corrections spokesman Jerry Massie said in McAlester.
“There was no last statement,” Massie said.
Cannon was the third Oklahoma prisoner executed this year and the 51st to be put to death since the state reinstated the death penalty in 1977 and resumed executions in 1990.
