Comets Wipe Out the Storm
Sheryl Swoopes scored 19 points to lead the Houston Comets to a 66-54 victory over the Seattle Storm on Tuesday night before 10,205 at Houston.
Tina Thompson added 18 points for the Comets (18-6), who have won nine straight at home since losing their opener to the Sparks.
Sue Bird scored a game-high 20 points for the Storm, which lost for the seventh time in its last eight road games. Seattle (10-13) made just 33% of its shots.
Utah 86, Detroit 75--Marie Ferdinand scored 26 points and Margo Dydek added 12 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocked shots before 3,753 at Auburn Hills, Mich.
Adrienne Goodson added 22 points for Utah.
Miami 54, New York 46--Sheri Sam scored 24 points, grabbed six rebounds and had three steals before 9,921 at Miami as the Sol ended the Liberty’s four-game win streak.
