‘Politics of Fur’ Wins Outfest Grand Jury Prize
“The Politics of Fur,” Laura Nix’s lesbian drama set in the world of rock music, won Outfest’s grand jury award for American narrative feature.
The jury for the Los Angeles film festival also chose the movie’s Katy Selverstone as best actress in a feature film.
Outfest, which presented awards Sunday and concluded Monday, also named the Iranian film “Daughters of the Sun,” from director Maryam Shahriar, best international narrative feature.
Evan Adams was named best actor for his role in the Native American feature “The Business of Fancydancing.”
“Fancydancing” writer-director Sherman Alexie won the jury award for best screenwriting.
Best documentary prize went to “E Mina Cara” (That’s My Face), an African American exploration of Africa as motherland, from director Thomas Allen Harris.
Outfest officials estimated that attendance during the 12-day festival was about 40,000.
