A Newbury Park man who ran a Ventura auto body shop has pleaded guilty to three counts of felony insurance fraud.
Michael Reiser, 58, was sentenced Thursday to 36 months of felony probation, 30 days in Ventura County Jail and ordered to pay at least $200 to a state restitution fund.
Senior Deputy Dist. Atty. Mickey Coyle said the case began with a citizen complaint about work done at Reiser’s Buena Body Shop.
Undercover investigators from the state’s Bureau of Automotive Repair brought two automobiles to the shop and found that about $1,000 in repairs that were never performed were charged to insurance companies, according to Coyle.
