Citizens Police Academy Accepting Applications
The Simi Valley Police Department is accepting applications for its Citizens Police Academy, which seeks to increase the public’s understanding of police operations.
Law enforcement experts teach the 13-week course, covering topics such as narcotics, major crimes, patrol, traffic and SWAT. Students also participate in ride-along patrols with officers.
The classes will be held from 6 to 9:30 p.m. every Thursday, beginning Aug. 22. A graduation ceremony will be held Nov. 18 during a City Council meeting.
Applicants must live or work in Simi Valley, be at least 21 and have no felony convictions, outstanding warrants or pending criminal cases.
