California Budget Bust

Re “State Budget Talks Going Nowhere, Slowly,” July 28: If you or I repeatedly failed to do our job, we’d be fired. If we knew that a problem was likely to arise, we’d be expected to anticipate it and deal with it so that our task would be completed on time. For well over 20 years, passing a state budget has been a problem, but once again the governor and state elected officials (Republican, Democrat and other) have failed to learn from the past--and have thus failed to get their job done.

Let’s fire as many of them as possible in November. They couldn’t handle energy contracts in 2001, they couldn’t handle the Oracle debacle and they can’t handle the budget, again. Surely we can do better. We can’t do much worse.
