vs. Portland, 7:30

Site--Staples Center.

Radio--KPLS (830).

Records--Sparks 3-1, Fire 0-3.

Record vs. Fire (2001)--1-0.

Update--There are two players from the Sparks’ 2001 WNBA championship team that have not received their rings yet. Ukari Figgs, who was traded in the off-season to Portland, is supposed to receive hers tonight. Figgs is hurting after losing a front tooth as a result of a collision with teammate Jackie Stiles during Sunday’s loss to Seattle. (The other player, Rhonda Mapp, is suspended because of a contract dispute and will probably have her ring mailed to her.) Los Angeles is hoping to rebound from Saturday’s overtime loss in Charlotte. The 94 points were the most the Sting has scored against the Sparks. The best news out of North Carolina was the announced engagement of rookie Nikki Teasley--who has replaced Figgs in the Sparks’ lineup--to Collis Arrick, a banker in Raleigh, N.C. Arrick proposed last Friday when the couple was watching the Laker game.
