Foreign Minister Quits, Citing Health Reasons

Pakistani Foreign Minister Abdus Sattar said he had resigned on medical grounds. He confirmed a report in the English-language daily the Nation that quoted him as saying, “My health does not permit me to fulfill the responsibilities.”
Sattar also served as ambassador to India. The two nations are locked in a crisis over the disputed region of Kashmir.
He had asked to be relieved of his job after he underwent surgery last week, other reports said.
