Supervisor’s Critics Put Recall on Ballot

From Times Wire Reports

Voters will decide this fall if they want to oust Supervisor Gail Marshall. Recall petitions were certified Wednesday, authorizing the vote by residents in parts of Goleta, Isla Vista, the Santa Ynez Valley and Vandenberg Village.

The recall effort began last fall when Marshall’s critics said she tried to quash a movement to say the Pledge of Allegiance at a community meeting soon after the Sept. 11 attacks. The supervisor said she simply wanted to let the group decide.
