Recount Trims Margin in Senate Primary Win
A recount in Kentucky’s tight Democratic U.S. Senate primary race produced an even narrower victory margin for the daughter of a former governor of the state.
The Kentucky secretary of state’s canvass of votes tallied May 28 showed Lois Combs Weinberg beat former Rep. Tom Barlow by 958 votes out of more than 460,000 cast--fewer than her election night margin of 989 votes.
Weinberg, the daughter of former Gov. Bert Combs, will face GOP Sen. Mitch McConnell in November. McConnell, 60, was unopposed for the GOP nomination.
