Two Bank Holdups Appear Unrelated
Two apparently unrelated bank robberies occurred within a hour of each other in Costa Mesa, police reported Saturday.
At 9:45 a.m. Friday, a robber brandishing a knife and wearing a ski mask entered the Costa Mesa Federal Credit Union office on Harbor Boulevard and ordered the customers to get on the floor.
He then jumped over the counter, took an unknown amount of cash and fled, reportedly in a light blue compact car.
At 10:27 a.m. Friday, at a Bank of America branch on 19th Street, a robber gave a teller a note announcing a robbery. The robber got an unknown amount of money and fled on foot, police said.
Anyone with information on either robbery is asked to call Costa Mesa police at 714-754-5603.
