Man Allegedly Stole Dead Mom’s Benefits

A former Oakhurst, Calif., man has been indicted for allegedly collecting his dead mother’s Social Security checks for 20 years.
Glenn Lankford, 57, stole nearly $200,000, the federal indictment says. Ellen Lankford began collecting survivor’s benefits when her husband died in 1980. She died in 1981, and her son continued to receive and cash the checks, it says.
