Los Angeles Mayor James K. Hahn announced Tuesday that about 3,500 jobs and internships are available this summer for the city’s at-risk youth.
People between the ages of 14 and 21 may apply for about 3,000 jobs that begin July 8 as library assistants, child recreation counselors and other posts.
In addition, 400 middle school and high school students already have signed up for new state-funded internships with the city’s Department of Recreation and Parks, where they will learn carpentry, landscaping and counseling. The phone number for applicants is (800) 367-2562.
