A Taiwanese sailor and his father have been arrested for allegedly leaking military secrets to rival China, prosecutors said.
According to military prosecutors, 1st Sgt. Liu Yueh-long, 23, a naval radio decoder, was detained June 6 while on board the destroyer Shao Yang. His father, Liu Chen-kuo, was arrested one day later in the southern port city of Kaohsiung.
“His son was in the military and so it was easy for him to get information and give it to mainland China,” said Hung San, spokesman for the High Prosecutorial Office in Kaohsiung. He did not elaborate.
