Survey Shows Viewers Hooked on Commercials

Italian TV could never be accused of being highbrow, but it’s apparently become so tacky that most viewers would rather watch commercials, a new survey shows.

Almost two-thirds of Italians say commercials “are among the most entertaining things on TV,” and a third say they would be “sad” if there were no ads, the survey of 980 viewers ages 25 to 55 showed.

The survey was conducted on behalf of Starcom MediaVest Group at the Cannes festival of advertising in France.
