My Best Shot

Susan and Bill Shier of Irvine had to endure two hours of intermittent rain last June to experience sunset atop Yosemite National Park’s Sentinel Dome, but at least the view was worth the wait. During a break in the clouds, Susan pulled out her 35mm point-and-shoot camera in time to photograph the summit’s famed Jeffrey pine in the glow of dusk. The couple had another reason to celebrate: They were newly married.

The wedding was an intimate ceremony in a Yosemite Valley chapel. “It was perfect,” Susan says. Coincidentally, the Shiers celebrate their first anniversary today.
