A Pointed Question

Re “A British Royal’s Gaffe in Australia,” March 2:

When Prince Philip, during a tour of Australia, asked a tribal leader: “Do you still throw spears at each other?” the tribal leader should have responded: “Do you still behead people in England?”

Political correctness aside, why did the Australians not like Prince Philip’s question? Considering the natives’ dress--in paint (war?) and aboriginal costume--it was a very pertinent question. If they chose to show up dressed like that, why should they be offended at his interest? I am baffled.
