From Times Wire Reports

A felony charge was dismissed against some defendants in the videotaped assault on a 19-year-old college student in Isla Vista but a judge let the remaining four counts stand.

The videotape shows members of the group offering the former freshman shots of rum, writing on his naked body and placing garbage on the unconscious student as he lay on a couch in the street.

Superior Court Judge Frank Ochoa ruled that there was insufficient evidence that Scott James Carter, Matthew Francis Blessing, Charles Lawrence Anderson and Joshua Matthew Burns gave the victim alcohol to imprison him. But he let stand charges, including a sexual battery count, against three of the men.
